- This HBA Card is built around the LSI/Broadcom SAS3008 controller, providing 12Gbps SAS and 6Gbps SATA connectivity for reliable direct-attach storage. With PCIe 3.0 x8 bandwidth and 2× Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8643) internal ports, you can directly connect up to 8 SATA/SAS drives using the included 2× SFF-8643 to 4× SATA breakout cables (8 SATA ends total). Need more? Scale out seamlessly through an external SAS Expander to build large ZFS or JBOD arrays for NAS and homelab. Shipped in HBA IT Mode for pass-through (no RAID logic), it’s ideal for ZFS, FreeNAS/TrueNAS, unRAID, Proxmox, and ESXi workflows that expect disks to be exposed natively. Backward-compatible with 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s devices, supporting common 3.5"/2.5" HDDs and SSDs. Cable note: the included breakout cables are SFF-8643 → SATA for SATA drives only. For SAS drives with 29-pin 8482 connectors, please use SFF-8643 → 8482 SAS cables (sold separately) or choose our matched HBA + cable kit.
