Sobre este producto
  • Following on from the successful release of their first product ‘The Kit’ in 1982, Cambridge-based company MPC Electronics expanded on the idea of an electronic drum trigger device and unveiled ‘The Kit II” at a trade show in early 1983. Some refinement of the original specification by designer Clive Button occurred in the months that followed, along with a change of name, and by August of 1983 the ‘Music Percussion Computer’ was to be released. The £599 Music Percussion Computer had eight trigger pads and an electronic synthesizer section that could also be programmed using a small mini-computer built into the chassis and operated from a keypad on the control panel, that stored sequences of programmed beats. Additionally, the unit could interface with the budget-priced small Sinclair ZX81 home computer to allow a visual representation of programming using a bespoke sequencing package. The ZX81 and USA-market equivalent Timex 1000 were retired in early 1984, and MPC Electronics released interfaces for the Sinclair Spectrum and Commodore 64 home computers during the ‘Music Percussion Computer’ production run, along with optional electronic pads and pad interfaces that could be connected up to the unit. The rather unique unit didn’t seem to find favour with musicians in comparison to the programmable digital EPROM-based drum machines emerging from North America, and just over 650 units were sold. The sound generation section of the Music Percussion Computer was refined and released in the guise of four different rack-based Drum Synthesizer Modules during the years 1984-1985, but with declining market share and no further products on the horizon, MPC Electronics closed down in early 1986. This all-colour user manual has been carefully restored with original sourced documentation from manuals, brochures and reviews, and is also enhanced with photographs and additional updated information to enable the user to get the best out of their Music Percussion Computer. As an additional bonus, the manual also includes a comprehensive history of MPC Electronics featuring all the company’s products designed by the innovative Clive Button, from the introduction of 'The Kit' in 1982 through to the end of the company in 1986.
