Once connected the micro USB cable enables you to download or transfer waypoints, map and software updates and more besides. Please note: A different USB cable with a mini USB connector is also available. The vast majority of Garmin units require the mini USB cable, threfore before buying please see the compatibility below to ensure that your system requires the micro USB cable. Would you like to update your Garmin sat nav or outdoor device mapping or POIs (Points Of Interest)? Maybe you'd like to download a software or firmware update? Or maybe you'd like to transfer waypoints or maps to the device? Using the micro USB cable (and dependent on your Garmin unit) you can achieve all this and more. Simply connect your Garmin device to your Windows or Mac PC via your units micro USB connector and your computers USB (Universal Serial Bus) connector often located on the back of your PC. Please note: The micro USB cable is NOT supplied with any software and/or drivers. To enable your Garmin sat nav or other GPS system to talk to your PC, you will first need to download and install the correct software.
