Sobre este producto
  • The Third Edition of Mastering Statistics Using JASP has been substantially revised to expand its coverage of important statistics and to enhance its value for students. It is now printed in color to better show JASP’s very colorful point-and-click interface. In addition, (a) the chapter teaching students to use JASP has been moved up in the order of chapters and now focuses on teaching the use of the newly enhanced JASP Data Editor to create and modify data files, (b) the parametric t test and analysis of variance chapters now contain complete introductions to their non-parametric alternatives, (c) the interactive JASP teaching module called Learn Stats is now fully integrated into several chapters, and (d) a new Chapter 17 has been added that teaches students how to create reliable and valid psychological scales The primary goal for the Third Edition of Mastering Statistics Using JASP remains the same—helping students develop a strong conceptual understanding of statistical methods. The important concepts in introductory statistical methods can be understood in terms of pictures and words, with a little bit of basic algebra thrown in. To achieve that objective, the text provides very detailed verbal explanations for all statistical concepts and formulas, clarifies important concepts using pictures and graphs, and uses realistic and engaging examples to explain how different statistical procedures work. The Third Edition retains a friendly, conversational style that says to the student, “there’s nothing here that you can’t learn.” Although Mastering Statistics Using JASP is intended as a textbook for a one- or two-semester course in statistical methods, the book is written in such a way that a reasonably motivated person can teach herself or himself statistics without instructor assistance. A second objective is to teach students to use statistics as a powerful tool to answer questions about the causes of events in the real world. The text is explicitly multivariate in its orientation and the chapters on correlation, multiple linear regression, and analysis of variance teach students to approach research in that fashion. Building a statistics textbook around a powerful and simple to learn data analysis program like JASP makes it possible to teach a wider variety of statistical procedures and build greater competence in their use within the confines of a one- or two-semester course. The third objective is to keep the cost of learning statistics to a minimum. Students already have enough educational debt. Textbook prices are out of sight and, frankly, on-line courses are not the answer. This text is published by Amazon KDP and is priced as low as possible—and JASP is free to everyone! Here are the 18 chapters in the text: To the Student 9. Sampling Distributions & Statistical Inference 1. Basic Concepts 10. Single-Sample Inference 2. Describing Data 11. Two-Sample Inference 3.
